Despite affecting a significant number of women not enough is known about POI.
Before I was diagnosed I wasn't even aware it existed as a condition.
The impact this condition can have on a young women's life can be devastating and exponential.
It causes you to enter an early menopause, it can lead to infertility, it can lead to an unhealthy relationship between you and your body, it can reduce your self worth.
So why does POI need a voice and a platform?
There are so many women suffering in silence.
There are women who are struggling to accept the diagnosis and the impact of this on their life.
There are women who may be struggling to understand how they can move forward with their lives.
There are women who don't have access or who are struggling to find support networks they so vitally need to start this journey.
There is a very limited awareness of POI as a condition, this means there are limited resources for those going through it! This means there are so many women out there and going through one of the most difficult times of their lives alone.
Giving POI a voice, gives these women a voice. It shows the value of women with POI, it celebrates their strength and courage and it attempts to remove any misguided stigma previously associated with this condition.
