After my first consultation with the specialist doctor, I was given a book to take away and read "Making Friends with the Menopause.
As soon as I got home this book went into a box. I didn't want to make friends with something I hadn't invited into my life. I didn't need to read any books on something I could easily ignore.
Today (some 2 years later) the book has come out of the box. Today I have promised myself that I need to try a bit harder to accept and understand what is going on in my body. I have spent the last few years pushing things down and trying to get on with life. I didn't want this diagnosis to define me or take over my life. However by adopting this attitude I also hadn't given myself time to accept or understand what it was all about. I have tried to deal with the situation emotionally without taking any time to understand the physical implications and that needs to change. So today I am going to find time to open the book that has been in a box for over 2 years. Today I am going to start my journey of understanding the physical as well as emotional tolls the menopause can take.
